Along the Walk
The Conference on Deceleration
in Performing Arts
17.-21. April 2024
Acceleration and growth rule the development of our society. In almost every field, these principles infuse and drive humanity in a mad rush. Insidiously, a culture of haste permeates our personal, social, economic and political spaces. Facing this, deceleration appears as a valid response!

About
Along the Walk is an international project on the topic of deceleration. In the past two years, 14 artistic tours in rural areas were done by walking duos of performing artists. These Walks were the artistic production of the project and at the same time the research tools in order to develop innovative performative methods based on the concepts of deceleration, environmental awareness, social inclusion, intercultural dialogue and collective work.
Participate
The Conference is the final event of the Along the Walk project. Registration is open to anyone interested in the topic of deceleration, connected to the field of performing arts. During this Conference, the findings of the research and the approaches developed within the project are shared in formats of workshops, presentations and talks. In the wish to tacle the topic even wider and enrich the gathering with other contributions and mediums, the Conference consists also of performances – varied in styles, fields and entry points to deceleration, and of lectures – dealing with deceleration within theoretical academic fields. And last but not least, the Conference will breathe with meetings, encounters, exchanges, collective experiences of everyone involved.
